Good to Know!!
The majority of assessments in first grade will be administered on the computer. It is my recommendation that you purchase over the head/ noise blocking headphones for your child. Please make sure the headphones fit comfortably and work properly. We do not want technical difficulties to impede your child's success during assessments.

Math Homework!
Math homework is completed in the math practice workbook. The workbook goes home and stays in your child's backpack or in a very safe place at home. Students will write the correct math page in their agenda, complete the page for homework and rip out the work and place it in their homework folders. Please do not complete pages that have not been assigned.

What is I-Ready?
Based on the results of the i-Ready® Diagnostic, students are automatically placed into student instruction customized to their placement levels. These online lessons provide a consistent best-practice lesson structure and build conceptual understanding, in addition to being engaging and fun for learners of all levels.
STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE 30 minutes of MATH and 30 minutes READING PER WEEK.
What is AR (Accelerated Reader)?
The Accelerated Reader program is a computerized program that tests reading comprehension. Students select books on their reading level, read independently, and take an independent comprehension test on the computer. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level.
Students should take at least 2 quizzes in class per week. Students are responsible for bringing their library books to school and taking their quizzes. Students are permitted to log on several times throughout the day.
What is Class DOJO?
ClassDojo is a behavior management tool for the classroom. Each student has a profile – complete with their own avatar – to which teachers can assign positive and negative points (or 'dojos') throughout the lesson. My favorite part of class dojo is the parent communication. Parents can instant message me with any comments, questions or concerns. It's much easier than having to write an e-mail.

Ice Cream on Friday
This Friday students can purchase ice cream in the cafeteria for $1.00. If you would like your child to purchase ice cream send in $1.00 in an envelope or sealed baggie marked with your child's first and last name. If your child has money in their account you do not need to send extra money. As I said in open house My payments Plus is the best way to reload your child's lunch account. There is even an app so you can add funds on with your smartphone. You can view your balance and see what your child is purchasing. I highly recommend it. Here is the link below:
